NORTH RIDING GUNDOG CLUB OPEN SHOW
24th AUGUST 2019
Apologies for the lateness of my critique, due to several weeks illness just after the show. My thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge at their very friendly show, my steward who did an excellent job and to the exhibitors for allowing me the opportunity to judge their lovely dogs, I thoroughly enjoyed my day. Most of the dogs were well presented, though I was surprised to find some who were not. In my opinion, when showing your dog, at any level, they should always be presented in tip top condition in order to give them the best chance possible.
BOB R L & F Richardson GWENDARIFF I’M FOOL PROOF
RBOB Mr C. Wheeldon BARDONHILL JEALOUS GUY FOR COLEMIST
JUNIOR 3
Two lovely boys headed this class and could easily have changed places on another day. It was a hair splitting decision between these two, but No 1 had slightly more panache.
1st& BOB. Ruth Richardson Leah Richardson & Freya Richardson GWENDARIFF I’M FOOL PROOF
Very striking, elegant, handsome 13 month old male. Caught my eye as he entered the ring & am pleased to say he didn’t disappoint. Very much a junior dog, but quality just oozed from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. Dark, mischievous eye, raised brows, well defined occiput & correct ear set. Balanced with clean lines throughout, arched neck flowed cleanly into topline, which he held on the move. Super neck & layback of shoulder. Good angulation fore & aft, especially for a youngster. Neat feet. Presented in super condition, with a lovely dark, flat coat, just needs more feathering to complete the picture. Moved extremely well, covering the large ring effortlessly. So in tune with his handler, he was a pleasure to watch. Was really taken with this elegant boy, I loved him. Delighted to award him BOB. Will watch his progress with interest, the best is yet to come!
2nd Mesdames CR & A Longbottom & D Stewart-Ritchie GWENDARIFF SMART RED JACKET
13 month old dog from the same kennel as 1. Another boy who just oozed quality Heavier built & more compact than 1 with a different coat type. However, this didn’t distract from his many qualities. Gorgeous head, dark expressive eye, raised brows, correct ear set. Good front, neck & shoulders, deep brisket. Balanced throughout. Neat feet, well muscled, well developed hind quarters, well angulated fore & aft enabling him to move very well. Excellent condition & presentation, handled well. Unlucky to meet 1. Am sure these two will change places many times. Loved him. Sure he has a great future ahead of him.

POST GRADUATE 4 (1)
1st Ms. W. Holehan LOGANRISH JACQUART
5 year old pretty feminine bitch. Dark expressive eye with raised brows, correct ear set. Arched neck flowed cleanly into topline, which she held on the move. Lovely neck & shoulders, good body properties, clean outline. Good spring of rib & well muscled. Moved well to win this class, lovely to see her lashing tail. Such a happy bitch.
2nd Mr C. L. Wheeldon COLEMIST TAKE A CHANCE ON ME
Really liked this 2 1/2 yr old bitch. Balanced and so well put together. Kind dark eye, pretty head & expressive face, raised brows. Arched neck, flowed smoothly into good shoulder placement. Well sprung ribs & depth of chest, good body properties throughout. Well angulated, but carrying just a tad too much weight which unfortunately impacted on her movement.
3rd Ruth Richardson Leah Richardson & Freya Richardson. ORLANSET READY FOR LOVE
OPEN 3 (1)
1st & RBOB Mr C. Wheeldon BARDONHILL JEALOUS GUY FOR COLEMIST
3 1/2 year old handsome dog. On first glance he appeared to be carrying too much weight. However this was not the case, rather, he had too much coat which would benefit from thinning out, in order to highlight and accentuate his qualities. Masculine expressive head, dark kind eye, good stop, raised brow, giving a hint of Irish mischief. Nicely defined occiput. Low set ears, well laid shoulders and correct topline, which he kept on the move. Plenty of forechest, strong body, ribs well sprung, muscular over the loin. Neat arched feet. Sound as a bell, moved with enthusiasm. Delighted to award him RBOB.
2nd Mrs S. A. Mohan ANLORY KELTIC LEGEND
7 year old heavier built dog,. Kind expressive eye. Compact, & balanced. Correct ear set, clean outline, good layback of shoulder and top line. Strong & sturdy. Happy mover, really enjoying himself.
